SA OFFICERS GATHER FOR ANNUAL OFFICERS' FELLOWSHIP
23 August 2022
More than 60 Salvation Army Officers from the South Central Division, Gulf District and Popondetta Area gathered last weekend at the CIS Bomana Police College for the annual Officers' Fellowship.
Divisional Commander for the South Central Division Major Renagi Ali said it is a first of its kind after so many years for officers from the three areas to gather in one place for such a meet.
"The teaching sessions and bible studies conducted by our Territorial Leaders Colonels Garth and Patti Niemand have been very well presented and full of insight."
"We were taken through teachings on respect and compassion on Sunday and on Monday, we were taken through a study on honesty."
"The challenge was for each officer to be mindful of their conduct wherever they are in their appointments," Major Renagi said.
Major Renagi also added that a few officers will be retiring later this year and made mention that this Officers' Fellowship to them is a special one as this will be their last one to attend before retirement.
"We also will be witnessing the retirement of two officer couples who will be retiring end of this year and so we decided to invite them to this officers fellowship."
"It was a blessing and encouragement to us young officers to witness as these retiring officers danced and celebrated with us as it definitely encouraged us young officers to also remain dedicated and true to our calling until it is our time to retire as well," Major Renagi said.
The two officer couples include Majors Wari and Nellie Burava and Majors Dinunu and Ridia Nenewa.
Major Renagi said this year, the Officers Fellowship is so significant and special as they were able to have a combined officers fellowship for the first time in so many years.
"We have decided to have a combined Officers' Fellowship this year so that officers from Gulf and Popondetta can share their experiences with officers serving in town settings."
"This will allow them to learn from each other and so if they every get appointed to serve in main towns and cities, they will be more aware of what to expect," Major Renagi said.
Major Renagi mentioned that it is a milestone for the division as well as Gulf and Popondetta as they celebrate this year's Officer's Fellowship.
Major Renagi further added that one main takeaway from the gathering has been the fact that officers understanding the need to always encourage and to build each other.
The 2022 Officers' Fellowship for the three areas was led by Territorial Commander Garth Niemand, together with the support of the Territorial President for Women's Ministries Colonel Patti Niemand.
