Settlement communities are growing all over the nation in the urban centres of Papua New Guinea as people are leaving the security of their traditional villages. Most people end up without jobs and without means of support. This has created an environment that most see as the breeding ground for all society disorder that this nation is experiencing in our urban and rural area.
The Salvation Army is aware that there are a great many unchurched people in the city, and the urban drift has contributed to so many social issues in the settlements. A holistic approach. Including worship, literacy, kids programs, gardening, basic health education, fellowship and home league amongst the activities.
The Settlement ministry team has been developed to help these people who are in great need. The conviction that drives The Salvation Army and its personnel has been captured in the words “Heart to God & Hand to Man”.
