WORLD VISION COMPLETES 'TRAINER OF FACILITATORS' TRAINING WITH SALVOS SOUTH CENTRAL
28 July 2022
World Vision PNG in consultation with The Salvation Army South Central Division last week completed a weeklong ‘Trainer of Facilitators’ Training at the Citi Boutique Hotel in Port Moresby.
Under this engagement, World Vision is looking at capacity building for pastors and church workers/volunteers and The Salvation Army is the first faith-based organization to receive this vital training which will enable facilitators to go back and work alongside their communities to encourage healthy family relationships.
Faith & Development Officer of World Vision Mr Daniel Kiuri said the focus for the training was on ‘Celebrating Families’ and so the training model has been specifically designed to address this.
“A child wants to be loved by their parents and also, parents want to love their children the best way they can and so this training is focused on how such relationships can be nurtured and encouraged within families,” Mr Kiuri said.
Mr Kiuri thanked The Salvation Army for continuing to maintain a close working relationship with World Vision and mentioned that their work with The Salvation Army further extends to other areas like Gender, Health & Literacy and further added that it is a great privilege to once again work together on delivering this training.
Divisional Secretary for Women’s Ministries, Major Velena Gomara was thankful to the World Vision for piloting the training with The Salvation Army and also mentioned that the Army looks forward to more of such trainings that will directly benefit The Salvation Army churches and fellowships not just here in the South Central Division but throughout the PNG & SI Territory as well.
The weeklong training was attended by youth workers and volunteers from The Salvation Army churches in Hohola, Kaugere Boroko and Koki together with pastors from the South Central Division.
