Red Shield Appeal Golf Day raises K70,000
The annual Red Shield Appeal Charity Golf Day was held at the Port Moresby Golf Club which was a success. More than K70,000 ws raised on that day thanks to the generous support from sponsors and business houses.
Now in it's 5th year the event attracted 20 teams who played under a three- player Ambrose format. Secreatry for Business Administration Lieutenant Colonel Bateman in his remarks thanked everyone for their support towards this geneourous course.
He said, "The thank you that I bring to you is not from The Salvation Army alone it's from the men & women, boys & girls who will benefit from this money."
"This year we are raising funds for The Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal, social health & education programs where the aim is to give hope where it's needed the most through our social welfare & community service programs," he added.
"With the Salvation Army's motto, "Heart to God, Hand to men," it is our responsibility to serve the needy members of our society."
Lt Col Bateman also thanked the major sponsors Brian Bell, Steamships Trading Company, Coral Seas Hotel, Monian Group, PNG Air, House of Gemii, Paradise Foods Limited, QPR Security Services, Bishop Brothers etc for their support in making the event successful.
There were lots of prizes awarded tot he participants, with major prizes of 3x return airline tickets anywhere in PNG and 3x weekend accomodation at Grand Papua Hotel.
The winners were RH Hypermarket in first place who retained the Sir Brian Bell Charity Shield, Brian Bell in second place and Trupla Mahn in third.
