BPS Students participates in the Queens Baton Relay

Queens Baton arrive in PNG

The Queens Baton Relay which will be traveling around 70 countries has finally reached the shores of Papua New Guinea which is the 65th country. It has travelled to places like Ghana, Jamaica, England etc..just to name a few.

The Queen's Baton Relay, is a relay around the world held prior to the beginning of the Commonwealth Games.

 The Baton carries a message from the Head of the Commonwealth, currently Queen Elizabeth II. It calls the Commonwealth’s athletes to come together in peaceful and friendly competition.

The purpose of the Queens Baton travelling around the countries is to celebrate the Commonwealth’s diversity, inspires community pride and excites people about the world-class festival of sports and culture to come.            

 John Guise Staduim came alive as 20 schools from around Port Moresby attended to participate in the Queens Baton Relay.  Boroko Primary School took part as well by sending 20 students who were under the supervision of Mr Tine to take part in these fun filled day.

Different sporting organizations and other companies like Yoga Unites, AFL PNG, Sustainable Development, UNICEF, Cricket PNG and Equal Playing Field were all present to involve and show the kids different techniques in playing and also other educational information to the students.   

BPS students whilst participating in one of the games were able to have a feel of the Queens Baton Relay.
