OTC STAFF PAY VISIT TO BOREGAINA CHURCH

20 June 2022

The Salvation Army Officer Training College staff from the Port Moresby Campus paid a courtesy visit to Boregaina Church on Sunday 19th of June 2022 where second year Cadets Rex and Vela Raga are currently undergoing their six weeks Field Mission Training.

The team consisting of Captains Steven Lavaki (Senior Training Officer) and Rose Lavaki (Training Officer) and Captains David Imi (Curriculum Director) and Rebecca Imi (Home Officer) were privileged to sit under the ministry of both cadets as they led a powerful Holines Meeting.

Speaking on the theme "HONESTY" and quoting from the scriptures in Mark 10:46-52, Cadet Vela challenged the congregation with the message; How often do we call on God's name and shared three points in her message, point 1: Call on His name, point 2: Don't let anyone silence your voice and point 3: Take off your coat and follow Jesus.

Cadet Vela told the story of how blind Bartimaeus sat on the roadside for many years hoping for a change and once he called on Jesus name, he was instantly healed and found himself as a new being in Christ.

She further challenged the congregation saying, "We must continue to call on God's name just as blind Bartimaeus did."

"Blind Bartimaeus did not let his disability prevent him from calling out to Jesus and so regardless of his status, he still went on to call on Jesus to attract His attention. In the same way, we must call on Jesus name and God will come to our rescue."

Just like blind Bartimaeus did, take off the coat that is preventing you from experiencing God's fullness, take off the things of the world that are weighing you down and come to Jesus and he will give you a better future, a new life and life in all its' fullness."

The moving of the Holy Spirit was so evident in that even before the appeal was made, people moved forward to spend time in prayer at the mercy seat.

In total, 5 people made the decision to rededicate their lives and respond to God's calling to take up their cross and to follow Jesus.

All who gathered had also experienced the moving of the Holy Spirit and indeed had an encounter with God right throughout the service.

Both Cadets Rex and Vela are into their third week of their Field Mission Training and will return to the Officer Training Collegue by the 11th of July 2022.

This week marks four weeks for the cadets out on the field and they are looking forward to the rest of the days ahead as they continue to move the mission forward here in The Salvation Army PNG.
